Miniature Dachshunds are sometimes called a "weiner dog," the lovable dachshund is one of the most popular breeds in America because of their small size and great spirits.

Grown Weight: under 11 pounds

Temperament: Dachshunds are lively and curious and love to play. They were bred to hunt and love to chase small birds and animals in the yard…or balls or other toys. They travel well and play the part of watchdog by alerting it’s master of anything suspicious. They do require room to exercise, but still make good choices for small homes and apartments.

Basic Care: Dachshunds can have one of three different coat styles: short hair, long hair and wiry hair. Weekly brushing is necessary, with some occasional grooming need for the long hair and wiry coats.
